Why isn't America be proud of Oprah Winfrey. ?

I realize I will get thumbs down for this, but this makes sense to me:

I always find it interesting that people will talk about celebrities being "great people" and have never known them personally or even have met them.

I think there's a few people out there that seem like their doing good things, but I don't go as far as to believe their also the most wonderful people in the world. How can I know that if I never met them.

There's been plenty of times where someone like Oprah is liked by many, then later on we learn their not as grand as people like to believe. With that said, she might be a great person.

She is a great person, but I have found her presentation of "Current Events" to be very lacking in quality. I've been shown episodes where she discusses the Darfur crisis and such, and to me, it has always seemed like sensationalism. Her reporters seemed to me like they were good looking amatuers. I'd recommend to anyone who watches the show to take the news presented with a grain of salt and for better, more accurate coverage, read the newspaper or watch CNN.

I am very proud of her. Some people complain because they are jealous of her, her money, her fame. and how she spend HER money. It's hers she earned it. She did not take it or steal it. Leave Oprah Alone.No one tells them how to spend their money. Again Leave Oprah ,alone She had A HARD LIFE Let her enjoy what she has earned.She does not have to let the world know WHAT she does. She knows and God knows that all that matters.

I don't like her not because she is black but because she has millions and does not help people. They show her fancy parties on TV and she brags about going here and there. Yet they show her visiting the poorest areas in the USA and she says that it would cost a few million for this town to have their water system fixed and people should help them. She could write a check to help these people and never miss the money.She saw how extremely poor the families are and did nothing.

Because she has become too influential and too powerful.She does alot of good things but she needs to call a press conference after each good deed to let the world know that she has done something great.I don't know about you but I think a true hero does not need to broadcast to the world about every good deed they do.I think she has ulterior motives and is obsessed with her own greatness. It is gross!!!

I agree. She does a lot more for human kind than any other celebrity. How many celebrities do you know that ask a question on answers like she did. I'd be willing to bet that she gives out at least $1,000,000 a year to other people.

Here is my opinion. If you are going to do something to help others, do it with NO press or cameras around you. Do it from the heart. Not a plublicity stunt. She is an ENTERTAINER so she cannot help herself to make sure the cameras are rolling every time she does something to help others.
