If you use Internet Explorer, click on Tools > Internet Options > Security tab.

Click on the Restricted Sites icon, then click on Sites and add the site's you want to block.

For other web browsers, look through their options, or set an entry in the hosts file.

Start > run > notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

(\etc\hosts since yahoo cuts it off..)

Create an entry at the bottom that looks like this:

127.0.0.1 website-you-want-to-block.com

eg: if you want to block zombo.com:

127.0.0.1 zombo.com

Then go File > Save. Note that both of these are easy to get around for any experienced user, but so is just about any other method unless you want to get a 3rd party application like netnanny.

As an all around block, toss HOSTS into Start-->Search Or open NotePad and browse to (In XP) C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\E T C . Just remove the spaces in E T C, I had to put'em in so Yahoo would display it correctly.....
Below the # signs, add the web address , a space, and then 127.0.0.1 Example:
www.yahoo.com 127.0.0.1
If it's already listed just edit it's number sequence to 127.0.0.1
127.0.0.1 is a loop-back address that sends the browser to 'local host'. You are the local host so it wont find Yahoo on your HD.
The HOSTS file saves web addresses that you frequent and loads into memory at start up to save time. When you type www.yahoo.com into your browser (for example) your browser first looks to the HOSTS file for an entry. If it finds it, it goes to it. If not, it queries a DNS server for the IP address which takes longer.
This is a useful trick for blocking all sorts of crap. Banner ads and tracking cookies from specific sites can be blocked with the HOSTS file. Faster page loads and no spying. Sweet.

short answer: you may not. Classifying and preserving music of person web pages (and what the consumer considers "person") is a complicated job that demands a honest volume of maintenance as nicely. you will possibly desire to purchase application suites which will clear out your internet for you, yet there is not something geared up into homestead windows which will particularly clear out person web pages. Parental Controls are available on homestead windows 7 and in all probability homestead windows Vista, yet those can basically limit the utilization hours of a working laptop or computer as nicely as particular video games and courses, it won't be able to intelligently clear out the internet asserting "it incredibly isn't person, so demonstrate it, it incredibly is person, so block it." those form of controls only are not geared up in. So, genuinely your chum became incorrect. He might have mistook parental controls for a filtering equipment, or over anticipated the make greater of their qualifications, yet there is not any geared up in person content filtering equipment to homestead windows. (Or MacOS, or Linux) Edit: some human beings stated employing the registry or hosts record to dam particular web pages, which I additionally seen yet did not furnish for the reason which you will might desire to dam each internet site in my opinion, which, giving the character of "person web pages" is very like attempting to stop bugs from entering into your place with the aid of status on the window and killing each insect you spot. it would desire to artwork yet, whilst a demonstrate screen is what you're incredibly after, not the answer you have chose.
