i'm in philadelphia, less than 100 miles from you, possibly, and it touched 71 today.
that's not necessarily global warming, there are record temperatures from the early 1930s or whatever. somehow all the crazy temperatures seem to come from back then.
regardless, as it stands, breeds of animals are already dying everyday - what, like 70 species of frogs have gone extinct in the space of like two years.
helping to stop global warming doesn't require too much effort, if everyone did a little bit, that little bit will add up to a large total
small things like bringing cloth bags with you to the grocery store, instead of using their paper or plastic. recycled paper towels and toilet paper. these things really do help.

I believe that although humans have an impact on global warming, the earth itself is far more responsible for the climate changes occuring worldwide.
This is an El Nino year, which explains the warmer weather pattern in the US. There are active volcanos spewing gas, ash, and smoke into the atmosphere, blocking the sun's warmth. Ice shelves breaking off are a natural thing.
Our planet cycles through these changes all by itself. Most scientists agree there was an ICE AGE 10,000 years ago, which followed a humid, warm cycle. And we may well be heading into another ice age gradually. Whether or not humans and their machines are making much impact on the changes or accelerating them is not universally accepted.
Can we stop global warming? No. We can't prevent plate tectonics, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, and ocean level changes. Those things happen on their own, shocking as that seems. We can try to live responsibly as stewards to the planet, and leave as small a footprint as possible.
50 years from now? Energy will be more expensive, the standard of living lower, no social security anymore, and I highly doubt I'll be here to see it. I will live and enjoy my life and not worry about global warming.

The earth doesn't have a perfect orbit. So we are getting closer to the sun right now. And in about 20000 years there will be an ice age, and I'm sure they'll find a way to scare monger people into giving up freedom and land for that too.

We changed our light bulbs, the energy efficient ones, and 50 years from now I think we'll all be dead.

I think its something people have been pondering since the iceage began ending and I wonder about what kind of lightbulbs they used back then.
