It seems to me that we spend a lot of money on trying to rehabilitate these people, who in my opinion, can never fully be rehabilitated. I believe once a molester, always a molester.... once a rapist, always a rapist.

Hanging would be better. I believe that our crime rates would go WAY down if we brought back public hangings in the town square, just like the wild west days. It would save us a butt load of money and rid us of a whole lot of headaches.

first off I wish the entire population of the WORLD never mind USA would get into their heads, THERE IS NO WAY TO REHABILITATE ! ! ! any one who molests children or rapes anyone, it has been proven for the past 200 years, it can not be done with frontal lobotomies, liquid or chemical castrations, or actual castration, or even 20 years in prison, nothing works at all, ever, never can fix them the only thing that stops them ( the do not stop in prison, it is a daily party many times a day for them) is them being removed from this earth, that is the ONLY thing that works, even with castrations, they now use their hands, their fists, sticks and any and ALL stuff they can get their hands on, the only way to stop this problem is, once caught ( they hurt more than 100 people before they are caught for one crime) is to be remove for the earth all together, and until we UNIT with this one, it will NEVER stop, but it is actually getting worse, so if your a female or have a daughter, you can take this to the bank, you most likely will get raped or molesting at least once if not more than once in your life time...until we fix this problem.so lets all unit and fix it..

good luck

you are right there is no such thing as fully rehabilitating a rapist or child molester and once one always one i don't think castration would help because they still have their hands and other objects so i think life in prison but where they are not given TV ,game systems and all sorts of entertainment we are punishing them they don't deserve material objects just a bed and toilet and lots of time to think about the crimes they committed

Its been proven by many medical officials that child molesters and rapists have mental disorders that cannot be reversed. Thus incarceration is doing them no good so why should our taxes continue to feed a worthless venture? Castration is a feasible option in my view. There's also the option of injecting them with hormones that decrease their sex drive.

You are so right... once a molester, always a molester... once a rapist, always a rapist.

I agree with you to a certain degree. Except that I strongly disagree with castration. These are not crimes of lust, they are about power over and humiliation of their victim. Castration wouldn't stop their actions. They'd still have the ability to harm their victims. Castration also doesn't render a man unable to have sex.

Rapists I feel, but not strongly . . . have a chance at rehabilitation with therapy. There crimes are usually a result of needing power over women because of some issue they had where a woman (mother, grandmother) stripped them of power.

BUT . . .

Life sentences or some sort of isolated community where they are constantly monitored would probaby be the only viable "cure" for them.

Once a rapist or molester, always. Why bother with rehabilitation. Send him to prison, the other inmates will dispence justice.

Castration does not solve the problem, most child molesters like to use objects.

that's odd Law & Order did a episode about a guy who was castrated, he ended up being really desperate and started taking testosterone to feel "like a man" again. And then he went out and killed a girl.

The line for rape is to grey to declare an absolute. Since rape can cover "I didn't know she was sixteen" and "I was just as drunk as her," I'd be hesitant to declare life sentences, without a clarification and limitation of the offense. I'd also hesitate to lump rape in with molesting, as the urge to rape has been proven to decrease over time, unlike molesters.

We should build underground prisons with rapists on one side and murders on the other side and once a month open a gate and let them visit each other ! Problem solved !
