I am studying for the Math Clep exam and need to pass it. Other than flash cards and a tutor (I cant afford it) what are some study methods yoiu can reccomend? And if you took the CLEP exam, tips on taking the test would be helpful as well, being that this is my first time taking a clep exam.

Everybody keeps saying practice, but how do you get yourself to practice? And how do you practice effectively?
People have various preferred modes of learning, visual, auditory, and kinesthetic / tactile. (These are not mutually exclusive except in learning disabled people, anyone else can beneift from all three.)
Think about what you remember best, things you hear, things you see, or things you do? Use that modality most in your practice. WIth math, of course, sitting and looking at it won't work, you have to do it. But does seeing or hearing work better for you? Many people find flashcards helpful, one fact or item per card. Use these whenever you have a few odd moments. Put aside the cards that you've mastered. When you see the stack of cards dwindling, this will help motovate you.
And how to get yourself to sit down and do it?
Seems I just answered a similar question, about how to motovate yourself to do your homework. Check it out...\

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE

If you want to suceed you need to practice. When I study for math sometimes I get bored and I need a little break. Usually, I work for 30-45 minutes and then I take a 5 minute break or get a snack.

Also, make sure that when you are studying, the TV is off, you aren't listening to music, aren't eating, etc. That distracts you and you aren't studying correctly.

Hope it helps!!!!!!!!!!!

In order to be good at math, you need to PRACTICE. Constantly looking at words won't do it. You need to practice. That's the best study method.
