Ever wondered how enriched and different life would be without that metal box in the corner?

As someone who doesn't have a television I speak from experience when I say that I am not influenced by any crap thats displayed on the box, My life is filled with good friends a good social life and lots of reading and the net of course. In other words I have a life and I don't have to watch soaps that are filled with misery and consternation at every given opportunity. And we wonder why society has become what it is. Bring back Mary Whiehouse I say.

Heck yeah, I could definitely live without television and have. It was interesting. I read more, wrote more and went out more. I also caught up on much needed sleep. It can be done. As a matter of fact, I still go w/o tv from time to time - to recenter myself. TV is so addictive, I watch my friends who watch tv 14 hours a day and I wonder how in the world do they stand it?
I wonder what the World Book of Records has recorded as the most hours a person has ever watched non-stop?
That sounds more like punishment than anything.

I have a TV but watch it perhaps an hour a day if that, and that includes the news. I do at times watch a film or show. But I could certainly do without TV.
Of course I do have my computer! With that I can watch TV listen to the radio, watch a film or video and make phone calls etc.!!!

I've done very well without it but reception is difficult in many areas I work in. But TV provides amusement and information to people in most countries.....there are about 500,000,000 TVs in China and even in the Gobi Desert (Lanzhou, GanSu Province). TV enriches lives, not detracts from it...TV warns of changing weather, disease and is instrumental in education as we can see what is happening in other nations. With the decrease in readership of newspapers and books, TV fills a big void.

I almost never watch tv. By almost never I seriously mean almost never, like maybe once a month I'll watch a DVD with my kids. I could do without it easily, I much prefer reading. My father is the same way. I think everyone would be much better off without it. Its too graphic, violent, crude and inane anyway.

However ...... could I do without my pc? Probably not! LOL

Have done, made my children go without t.v. for six months, we had the radio on instead. It was when I first left my ex husband, my children's and his life revolved around t.v. I did it partly because I could not afford a licence, and partly to encourage them to find other distracting pursuits, positive ones of course!
When they stopped asking for the t.v. I went and got one.
I would rather we did not have a t.v. in the front room as it invades good conversation, but as we do not have a separate room to use as a t.v. room I have little choice.

Could I live without my guitar.....nooooooooo!

I haven't watched TV in........ a month.
And that one time was for a Mythbusters episode. Yes it counts, but it's educational) Before that it was like three months w/out TV.
And I have a great life - relationships, faith, school - all are amazing

Every day - i watch so much crap on it it's untrue.

I went travelling a couple of years ago and didn't watch a TV for three months and didnt miss it or even think about it one bit (apart from football of course).

I thought i'd miss it loads but all i missed was good music.

Try and do other things than TV, but hells teeth it's hard if you're a lazy sod like me.

I could. I have had some of the best times camping, etc. when there aren't any TVs around. I would have to buy lots more books, though.
