its pluged in properly becuase its charging.what else should I do.

For it to show on iTunes, make sure you have the latest version. Go to apple.com and download the lasest just to make sure.
Also, make sure you are connected to a USB port located ON YOUR COMPUTER and not on an extestion, like a keyboard.

well my ipod nano shows on mine.... r u shure u have it installed at the newer version... the new version doesnt come with a CD.. so u have 2 go 2 d actual website.. try uninstalling it and then installin it again. or maybe ur USB is in the wrong way.

suggestions:
1. make sure its plugged in the right way
2. try to go to advanced or help and use find device
3. plug it in again.... wait
also, next time you unplug it make sure to use safely remove hardware
