I read it a LONG time ago, but basically, I think it takes place in the future (from when the book was written), and all I remember were that they would burn books at the temperature of 451 degrees F, and no one was allowed to read books or any kind of material that wasn't approved by the gov't. People's living room walls were giant screens and every day each house would get a "script" thing and they would interact with these actor-people on the screens of their living room using their script, so it was sort of like a soap opera- but it was their life.

The book was weird, and it went over my head b/c it was too out there. I'm sure you could find a good summary on wikipedia.

Its a great book. You should read it.
Its about a time in the future where book are illegal. A Fireman's job is to set fires.... to books. Anywhere they find them. One fireman starts to doubt the wisdom of the practice and joins an underground movement where there are groups of people that have memorized - word for word - book till a time when they can be published again. So that the worlds literature can be revived and never forgotten. The title "Farehneit 451" is the temperature that book paper burns.
Its also a movie.... go rent it if you won't read the book.

These questions always amaze me. Why do you not want to read the book? Do you think life rewards the lazy? Do you want to be a person who is uneducated and masquerades as and educated person? Do yourself a favor and read the book. You never know, you might find you like it. You will be happier for it.
