Doesn't it run contrary to the idea of competiton where the best man should get the job. What if they started giving whites more tryouts for making the team in terms of players;being that blacks are vastly over-represented in terms of player race. If there is any place where competiton should be taken to the extreme isn't it in professional sports. Shouldn't politics stay out of it? So what do you say...DO YOU SUPPORT THE "ROONEY RULE?"

It is a good rule if used properly and the minority candidate shows an aptitude for the job. I believe there are many minority candidates who can do the job and teams should be open to all possibilities because the candidate could be a "diamond in the rough." Just because any candidate is interviewed it does not mean that one may get the job.If the candidate is the best in aptitude, character, disposition and professionalism that candidate whether a minority or not should get the job.

That rule is stupid. It makes it seem as if black coaches are inferior. How would you feel to be the only black male getting interviewed just because. It should be abolished. Pick a coach because he's the best candidate.

no cause it a waste of time if you know who you want but you go through the motions of interviewing someone you will not hire
beside I think all the owners will hire the best person for the job who cares what race they are can they win games is the question

i don't think it's right. I agree that best man gets the job and politics should stay out of football. No one should get an unfair advantage and the playing field has to be level.

it's a silly rule. teams will interview one black guy but still give the job to whomever they want to give it too.. kinda sad. the rule makes it seem as though blacks are inferior and can't get jobs on merit.. but that's not the case.. there are lots of great black coaches who don't need to use the race card.. dungy, edwards, lovie smith.. all great coaches..

It is sad the world we live in. Why must the PC people be in every aspect of our lives. When I watch sports I am not concerned with who is white or black, I am a fan of the guy who wins, because he or she is the best.

i live in Pittsburgh and i think if they know who they want to hire then why bother interviewing the token minority guy. its a waist of time. they have the two guys they want to talk to. but of course the minorities will complain . I'm tired of that. if they are qualified they will get the job no questions asked.. its that simple.. white , black, purple , green or whatever color you are, if you are qualified you will get the job. lets go pens and stay in the burgh !

I think the best man should get the job.....reguardless of race. If there are three white guys that are best qualified, then interview them. If there are three black guys that are best qualified, interview them.

no in fact i think it would be more of an insult to a minority. they should do away with it you should interview and hire who you think is best suitable for the job
