I'm an aspiring artist and need some tips on how to make sensible lyrics. Because all I've been doing is making silly and crappy songs.

That's the wrong question to ask!
Have a personal style and write about what you see and feel and think about things. The music industry is a fickle mistress and she has odd tastes that change so quickly. It's the people that love her and go with the flow and just enjoy music that stay for the long haul!
U2 is a good example. Look at all the different types of songs and lyrics that they've been successful with. A song about Bonos father and the ongoing angst between them that turned to love and respect and a dedication of a song to honor it. He writes about what moves him...political, personal, inspiring someone or whatever. He loves the process of music and honors her by offering himself unpolluted by 'what he should be' or main stream that passes quickly. They have been around for 25+ years.
Be your own tribute to music and she will love you for it.
