I mean really, i dont think they can do much with my social. And if your going to say steel my identity, ask yourself how are they going to do it. There is so much security out there, its really not possible.

WRONG! These people can and will use your number to get a new identity in which not only can they ruin you financially but they can come after you for crimes they commit in your name!! If that isn't a costly nightmare they can get several credit cards using your number and charge up thousands without you even knowing it until you check out your credit. Your pin numbers are easy for them to get as a program on identity theft showed how they get on the computer and the numbers spin stopping when comming up with the right number. You need to get street smart quick!

Just having your number isn't worth as much as actually having your SS Card in hand. It's worth $500 on the streets of Los Angeles to an illegal to establish themselves with an employer, a bank, the DMV, & many other things that I won't go into on-line. I've had it done to me several times & it's a good thing I had my FULL set of fingerprints on file with a government agency to prove myself when the sh*t hit the fan! I still would like to find the cars & the property that were purchased using my name & social & repo them, but that takes money & I don't have any!

You don't really need much information to abuse it though. Most places only ask for name, SSN, date of birth, and address. There's a good chance that they'll have your name and address from the same place they got the social, and with the right databases they could get your date of birth, mother's maiden name, etc, too.

I don't think it happens often in practice, but if it does, it really sucks.

Buddy, you are a very naive man if you think they can't do anything with you SSN number. There may be alot of security out there, but credit card fraud is the one most common crimes committed today. Protect your credit with your life, and do some research. You need to be enlightened.
