The Symbol of the Playboy bunny came from a sketch that ran in one of the first issues of the magazine. The bunny was a kind of sexualized take off of Buggs Bunny, complete with a cigarette, a drink, and Hefner's famous smoking jacket. (yep, the bunny was a male!) Later the symbol was trademarked and then changed sex to fit the then new playboy club waitresses uniforms! ~*~
Have a great night!

Years ago Hugh Hefner started Playboy magazine and the Playboy club. He called his hostesses bunnies. They dress in these little rabbit ears and tails. I think he called them that because rabbits like to, you know.

I'm thinking maybe because a bunny is cute. Even though I don't see the connection between a bunny and sex. But I'm guessing its because its cute.

Hefner said that he chose the rabbit as a mascot for its "humorous sexual connotation", and because the image was "frisky and playful".
Third paragraph under history.
(I also saw a television special about this, and thought it interesting to point out that the original title of the magazine was Stag Party and the mascot was a stag.)

It was going to be a stag but Hef changed it cause he thought a bunny was more playful and sexy.I sorta agree with the playful part but i dunno about the sexy part.
