Bleach is over-rated and over used for household cleaning. It is also potentially dangerous.
An acceptable dilution for cleaning children's toys and furniture is 1/4 t. per gallon of water. The average consumer uses far more with the mindset that they are 'cleaning better'. In actuality they are leaving behind a toxic residue that is going to attract more germs than it removed.
Read up on Natural or Biodegradable cleaning products for your home. Items like vinegar or Lavendar have the same disinfecting properties and are safer for your family's health.

Bleach is not that safe- especially if it's not rinsed off. It's a very toxic chemical. They make natural cleaners or using baking soda and water or vinegar usually does the trick.

Chlorine is a powerful chemical.... chlorine bleach is made from this chemical. Epidemiological studies have suggested an association between certain cancers and reproductive and developmental defects and exposure to chlorinated surface water. More than 200 million people in the United States consume water that has been disinfected with chlorine so health risks associated with disinfection byproducts need to be taken very seriously. In our home we have stopped using chlorine bleach. I use essential oils to disinfect in most cases, and a concentrated orange solution for cleaning. Nobody misses that chlorine smell and we all feel healthier.
