Definitely. It is the expression of the painters emotions. There have been many popular graffiti artists...check out Jean Micheal Basquiat or Keith Haring. Basquiat wasn't street graffiti, but he definitely had that kind of style. Keith Haring was definetely a street artist...very popular during the 80s.

Absolutely.
The illegible name scrawled with a single line of spraypaint might not look like much, but if you've ever gotten to the city and seen LOTS of graffitti, you would know that there are some really beautiful images created by talented artists. I've seen some graffiti and wondered how they did it! Amazingly skillful and beautiful works of art.
Besides, don't you think the intention of the graffiti artist is the same as any artist- to make something beautiful and expressive that will be seen and admired by others? Most artists do it for money, while graffiti artists may do it for "tagging" purposes or simply to create something that others will see. If you were an artist, you would understand what I mean.
It's actually considered a form of modern art. I do wish I could give you the names of some graffiti artists I learned about in Art Seminar, but that will have to be left for you to search for on Google.

You may. Under the circumstance that you do it on your own private property like a large canvas or buy your own brick wall (heck, that's actually not a bad idea).
But if you are doing it to other people's private property or public property that is vandalism, no matter if you spray painted a Van Gogh on the side of a fast food restaurant (unless you were given permission by the owner of the property and he or she does not object to it, then I would really be pretty amazed and impressed).
Respect the law and other people. Vandalism is vandalism, no excuse. My school, in the suburbs(yeah... let's get all my gangstas into my mom's minivan and go the the mall, Macy's to the foodcourt's our territory), at times have gang related graffiti vandalize it at times and it's horrible to see school funds on paint to cover up the what unneeded human vices. I don't care what you do, do it to your own house.

it can be art. i have seen some very intriguing graffiti. it just depends on where it is at. i think it is wrong to paint on property that is not yours. if it is your property than i say go for it.
my neighbor put in a new fence and a few weeks later someone sprayed their initials on it. that is wrong.
i also have a friend that has her name in graffiti on her bed room wall. now that is cool. you just have to be respectful of others.

In my opinion it is art. It's an expression of someones soul onto a canvas. Now is it illigal and inappropriate to destroy other peoples property? Absolutely.

Be real....expressions of self are art. You know when I realized that? When I took my four year old to LegoLand. I saw all these Lego sculpture that some boring nerd spent MONTHS making. It was their personal expression of art. And it was really cool!
