For one thing, I clean when I'm in the mood. So, I don't mark a Saturday on the calendar for Spring Cleaning. But, when I'm in the mood, I try to work as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to knock out as many tasks that morning as I can. Think, "How much can I get done in two hours?!" Then, turn up the music, take off extra clothes in case you get sweaty, and go to it. VERY IMPORTANT: Clean a room from top to bottom. Start with the broom on the ceiling, looking to knock down webs or brush of the ceiling fan, light fixtures, etc. Then, wipe a damp rag down the walls, cupboard fronts, fridge and oven fronts, etc. to the baseboards. Then, get into yuckier stuff like the fridge. You'll need to use a very light bleach/water mix for any stinky germy surface like inside the fridge, kitchen counters and sink, or bathroom. If it smells strong enough of bleach to irritate your nose or head, you've put too much in. Just a splash of bleach in a spraybottle or bucket will kill every bacteria and it is cheap! Lastly, dash around with a fresh damp rag to get the baseboards and then mop. I use cleaners that I enjoy the smell of so I have a feeling of enjoyment later in the day when the house smells fresh. It is satisfying. And, give yourself an extra nice shower or bath as a treat right after. To sum up, do it while in the mood, clean efficiently, and reward yourself!

If you develop a simple and quick system you will be more likely to follow it.
Decide to pick a day each week that you will devote to one room and one room only. On that day wipe your baseboards and clean the windows in that room as well as any other details that need tending too.
Each week favor a different room and follow that routine on a rotating basis.
Done this way your special tasks will only take a few minutes, things will look good and it won't be as overwhelming as trying to find time to clean ALL of the baseboards or windows in one day.
