How can I change my image, the one i present to the world?

Recently a friend of mine said i should change my image, i initailly thought she meant i should go out and buy some new cloths, get a haircut, grooming etc. But she said no, not that image?, As she is a good friend I did not want to dig too deep into exactly what she meant, but she said it with good intention.
I try to be myself. and part of that self is the ability to evolve into what ever i want to be, The ultimate thing to have would be a pure heart, i am very far from there, and realistically i dont ever think i will have a pure heart!

Asking my friend what exactly she means would put her in an uncomfortable position, so do i have to rely on introspection to find out what she exactly means? what things are important to me? what are my values. what are my goals, do i really know want i want from life?

Image is what other people see, and its superficial because its on the surface. However, you mentioned you try to be youself but part of that is to evolve in to whatever you want to be. While sometimes trying on new identities or 'masks' can be fun and make life interesting, but I think being comfortable in your own skin (comfortable with yourself and your image and your core values) is what projects a confident image and makes other people comfortable being aroud you. You say you have far from a pure heart - not sure what your definition of a pure heart is, but I consider it to be sincerity. People are attracted to sincere people. Don't be afraid to ask your friend in a gentle sincere manner to elaborate on her comment. Since she mentioned it in the first place, she should be able to fully clarify what she meant, but don't push.

Changing one's image has nothing to do with how you look like out side. A person who is a king has an image representing a king, a warrior's image is that of a warrior, and so on... It is not impossible to gain a pure heart, but you need to get out of city life... leave behind all the materialist things and go to the place were you are most variable, to a place were you suffer and you are not comfortable. You will find your pure heart there, but not many people, if any, have been able to reach that level of humanity.

Your image has everything to do with what you say, what you do, and what you think. If you control these things, including the tune of your voice you can change the way people view you… in a way it is the true shape shifting…

Meditation, and what you eat are also important and aid you to be able to control your mind and body… I said what you eat because what you eat in your body changes in to proteins and amino acids that control your emotions, and when you are in control of your emotions you are in control of your image… I also said meditation because meditation also helps you balance the energy within you, which also helps you to be in control of your body.

I don't know exactly what she meant, but maybe she thinks you should work on the image that comes across to others. Like for example, do people tend to think you are lazy or pessimistic or selfish, or irresponsible? Or even the opposite....Are you too pushy or preachy or judgemental? It just sounds like she thinks you need to try to change what people generally think about you by acting differently by focusing on your prioroties in life.
