If the Penguins stay in Pittsburgh with Lemieux as owner, he may be a lifetime franchise player. If they move to KC which is very possible, he may end up moving after a couple of years. I also thought Gretzky would have been an Oiler for life as well, so what the hell do I know???

There is a salary cap (this means that no team can spend more then the others on players and no team came spend too much on one player). He is available when he is 25 but the pens will probably put up money if he keeps scoring the way he does. But then again you also have Fleury, Staal and Malkin in the picture so what we may offer him may not be what he wants and he may go team shopping but I think, and hope, that he's around till at least he's 25 but hopefully he will be like Lemieux and never put on another nhl jersey.

I think he may be there for a long time. First of all this is a very young team with a lot of talent that needs to jell and I think he will want to be part of that. Plus with the salary cap no other team will be able to offer him a better contract. The current collective bargaining agreement only allows the best player on each team to be paid 20% of the salary cap limit and since the cap is the same for all teams nobody can give him more money. The "better" teams will already be paying their stars a lot of money so unless he took way less than a full value deal the team would need to dump a lot of salary to sign him (therefore they wouldnt be among the better teams anymore). That is the one positive of the cap, it will make it less likely that the star players will leave their current teams, it will cause a lot of movement among the mid to lower paid players.

I am not sure how anyone can tell that a player will stay with his team by looking at them. I think that Stevie Y will be the last marquis player that plays with his team for his entire career due to the salary cap. When Crosby is 25 the (Waterloo,Hamilton,Kansas City, Las Vegas,Pittsburgh) Penguins will most likely not be able to afford him and be able to sign all of their other stars

the team will be built around him, he will be with the Pens for a very very long time. and the team will get better with him on it, and within the next few years they will be the better team. and Crosby would not leave a team for $2 million dollars more he is a committed player and will be his entire career.

definitely. under no situation will he leave. he's on too good a set with too unswerving an proprietor. If elect be Mario will overpay for Sidney and unload yet another wealthy contract, at the same time with Jordan Staal, to stay under the cap. there is not any way Crosby leaves Pittsburgh.

I think for his whole career because why would the pens trade such a great great talent Crosby is already the best on the pens and its only his second year

Being a Pittsburgh girl and of course a fan of the Penguins, I hope he stays around for awhile. Unfortunately I doubt it. Even if the Pens stay here in Pittsburgh, with the depart of Lemieux, I doubt he will remain here very long. Pittsburgh is notorious for not having as high a pay as other teams, so I'm sure with such a great talent, he will go elsewhere for more money and for a better team.

The Pens will definitely try to give him a long term contract. His value wright now is really high.

well. he might stay because he looks like the type of person who is commited to his team and wants his team to suceed and win the cup but if he feels that he wants to play with a better team then i guess he would leave the pens after his contract is up. but who knows. with the team moving and all he might just move somewhere else.
