Why does Christian religion dominate everything in the south (no offense)?? Like in Texas there's Jesus Day, they tried to reduce pi to 3 and eliminate non integers. They stop teaching evolution in Kansas or Kentucky or whatever- I mean, what about Jews or Muslims or athiests? They don't matter? Shouldn't they teach Creationism AND evolution, so that kids that want to be a scientist can have some background info? It's pointless to rule out science, in my opinion, because everything basically revolves around it anyway.....

The problem is old, and comes from the fear that God is not real and that by showing an evolution of life into better and more successful creatures, we detract from his omnipotence. So by eliminating all other factors, God then becomes great again. Look at the Muslims chanting "There is but one God....", so Christians do it differently. As a scientist, there are too many facts that refuse to be buried by this hysterical nonsense. However, remember that 'thinking' people are not the people that run the school boards and even the legislature....many of those are brain-washed and follow the traditional Christian thoughts.

As a Kansan- I'm not offended at what you say, but I'm offended by some of the idiots that get in positions of responsibility here.

Presently, the state school board has been adjusted again, and is figuratively walking upright once more.

The problem is that the power of religion over it's followers is based on a fixed premise (supernatural and planned creation), and the increasing evidence for evolution as a natural phenomenon is steadily eroding that premise.

Religion has always fought science, and usually refuses to consider alternative beliefs. That protects their power, but of course retards the progress of mankind.

As far as Kansas goes... like a lot of non-coastal states, we have more than a share of close minded god fearing people who are frightened by the truth.
