I think I get what you are saying by upper and lower case numbers here. An upper case number I believe you are referring to exponents like say 4^2 where the 2 is in the upper portion of the 4. The lower case I believe you are referring to the base of a number where the lower portion of a number there is a number.

Let v = the opposite of ^

12v8

What this represents is the base number system the the primary number in this case 12 represents. 12 octal which is 10 in decimal which is the number system that we humans use.

Do you mean subscripts and superscripts? Like "x squared" to mean x^2? If that's the case:

"Upper case numbers", if you mean superscripts, usually represent powers.
"Lower case numbers", if you mean subscripts, can represent a lot of things such as

1) "Labels" for variables:

m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

2) The base of a log,

log[base 2](x)

do you mean superscripts and subscripts?
Superscripts mean powers. For instance 2 x 2 = 2 "squared" which is written 2 superscript 2. We type that as 2^2 if we cannot use superscripts.
Subscripts on variables like x mean that it is a different variable. instead of using x, y, z, a ,b ,c as variables you can use x subscript 0, x subscript 1, x subscript 2, etc.. Many people here type x0, x1, x2 and I know what they mean in context.

The only thing I can think of is:

Lower case is 1234567890
Uppercase is !@#$%^&*()

but I can't think of a serious answer.
