its very simple to do.... fist unplug all your cords from your PC and put it on a flat surface on its side.... second open your computer case if your looking at it from the front it will be the left hand side of the case you will want to take off... then when its open you will see a big fan, that is your CPU so to the right of it you will see a ram stick which is about 150mm long and about 25mm wide.... there will be two little clips on ether side of it all you have to do is push down on them until they unclip.... when that is done simply take the ram out and make sure you don't touch the gold surface on the bottom of it... then take it down to your computer store and get the exact type of ram or one that matches it in 512MB or even 1024MB and when you get it home all you have to do it make sure its the right way around and slide it into the slot and press down on it until it clicks into place... do this with the other ram stick, put your case back on, plug all the cords back in, turn on the PC and your all done.... you may want to go into performance and maintenance in the control panel then system to make sure the ram has been recognised GOOD LUCK

Well you're probably in for a financial shock on this one. I'm not positive on this, but I've run into it on other laptops.

Laptops usually have 2 RAM slots. Most likely what you have is two 256M RAM sticks (2 X 256 = 512M). That's the cheaper way for the manufacturer to install the 512M RAM. They typically don't install one 512M RAM stick.

In order to upgrade to 1G you will have to take the two 256M RAM sticks out and install two 512M RAM sticks. What this boils down to is that you essentially have to throw away what you currently have and purchase 1G of RAM.

It is possible that this is not the case but I really question it. Take your PC to a reputable local computer shop and have them give you a quote. What you obviously need to know is what is currently in the PC so you will know if you can buy 512M or you've got to go for the 1G.

What you can also do (and it's very reliable) is go to either

http://www.crucial.com or http://www.4allmemory.com

and use their diagnosis tools to determine what is on your PC and what you can do to upgrade it.

Changing out and installing RAM is very simple. Just look in your owners manual to see how to do it on your PC. It's not rocket science at all.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Don't be afraid of this process. It really is easy to do. You have to get the right memory card for your computer. There are many places to get it. Just make sure you get the right one. You just open your case and physically push it in the slot. That is pretty much all there is to it.

WROOOOOOONGG!!

It's an iMac portable. Only because of its small size I would STRONGLY suggest you stop being cheap and let someone else do it, a pro.
