I didn't think I was sorority girl material either, but I found myself in a situation where 99% of my friends were guys and I had few female friends. I decided to rush and ten years later I count many of my sisters among my closest friends. Because of my sorority, I ended up in many leadership positions within my university--opportunities I would not have known about, let alone seeked on my own. Also, these connections are valuable when you're searching for a job after college. It's amazing how may people in leadership positions were part of a fraternity or sorority.

Making new friends is tough. Organizations are one way to meet people and make friends. Don't limit yourself to sororities, even if you decide to join. Join a professional organization within your major; explore student government; join your university planning board; play a sport; live in a residence hall; get a job.

Personally I never found sororities very appealing...you have to pay a lot of money to even be in one, and they seem very superficial. Its your choice in the end, but ask yourself, do you really want to put the time and money required into it when there's a million other things you could do? And if you're really wanting to join one, at some schools they have professional sororities/fraternities that help you make connections for your future career. A couple of my friends are in them and they really like it!

spend some time at the college making friends before you decide if sorority is for you. In my college you can not pledge till sophmore year which is the best possible situation because it allows people to get their own real true friends and then they cn decide if greek life is for them...

Greek life is not for all and should be used to get friends. if you re using it for that reason i doubt you will even get a bid

I suggest resident housing. You'll get real people and make real friends there. If that's not an option, rent an apartment in a complex that has a terrific social program. Also, try using a roommate finder service. Good luck!

hahaha you see how funny the Greek system is. You aren't their real friends, you pay to be in the club. Maybe over time you become real friends, but it's all superficial.
