You seem to be trying to draw a line of causation between greater education on the one hand and the loss of wars and breakdowns of family units on the other. That is really unsound reasoning. After all, average life expectancy is also a lot longer now than it was when we fought WWI. Does it follow that families would be stronger and our military would be more successful if people died younger?

I know you don't think much of education, but I'll bet a course in basic logic would help you understand the world a bit more clearly :)

Nothing to do with education hun. In the old days of WW2 and earlier the only info on the war was on the old news reels at theaters and the news papers all whom strongly supported the war effort and demonized the enemy and their families. The lack of communications compared to today's standards allowed the government to gain the unanimous support of our patriotic country men (and women). Since the Vietnam war, the media has had better mediums of communication and opinions of opposition run more freely no. The meekest of voices roar like thunder over the internet, radio, television and anything printed on paper. These sources we non existent in the "good-ol days". And by the way, we were a very brutal nation back in those days. The bombing of Berlin was not a calculated assault on the enemy. I was an extermination to punish what we now call insurgents. It was a war. The purpose of war is in that is the final resort. If you're sympathetic in war, you will lose. THAT'S why this country will never again be victorious in a war like WW2. POP QUIZ: Where were all the protesters after 2 nukes were dropped on Japan killing only less than 100 lawful combatants? ANSWER: The American public viewed the women and children as evil as the Nazis and the Japanese....just as the media portrayed them. I know this is sad and depressing...but true. Have a nice evening. :)

I really don't think we are very well educated in this country. I don't think the population has ever been as ignorant as it is now. Look at what people watch on TV. Look are the level of out newspapers and magazines. Listen to what people consider music today. Look at the styles.

How could you expect to see redeeming social values with all of the meritocracy, degeneracy, perversion and filth? I am old enough to remember the Fifties. Can you imagine a man fifty years ago walking down the street with his pants falling off, his long hair hanging over his hears, and metal objects stuck in his face? He would have been laughed off the street.

Or women with tattoos. I don't think I will ever be able to handle that. And guys with earrings. How much worse can it get?

I don't think it's necessarily correlated to how educated we are, so much as it is to our values.

Today's world is characterized by more individualism than ever before, which means people are looking to get what's best for them more so than what's best for their community, family, state, country, etc.

Clearly, this isn't a fast and hard rule, but you will find that older people had a better sense of community at 20 yrs old, than 20 yrs old have today. They actually track this sort of thing by conducting research in how involved people are in community service, in social clubs and whatnot... Thea verage number of affiliations per person has decreased in the USA (and in Europe for that matter) since the 1950s.

I guess this answers at least part of your question.

The thing about the wars: Warfare has changed a lot in how its fought and how you define won and lost. It used to be that countries formally declared war and then you fought and either won or lost. Would you say we are at war with a non-country entity like a terrorist organization? Would you say we're losing because 3,000 died so far in Iraq? Millions died in WWI and WWII, so compared to that we're not doing so bad. Would you say we won if the war supposedly ends but it fighting continues on a smaller scale months later?

man has never been not so educated, most of todays mans is really stupid and ignorant, to think that people of the past were somehow less intelligent than us now is a fallacy. man has always been at his maximal level of intelligence since moment one of self awareness, he has known maths and geomotries for at least 10K years, and even more , so to answer your question is that we are getting dumber and dumber as time goes on and only a elite few bother to truly learn how to win wars and keep families together.

You cannot be humane and win wars!
Spending Millions of dollars on smart bombs that can fly through windows to kill the enemy, leaves all the ones outside still fighting, the old fashioned blanket bombing killed EVERYONE in the area, and wars were quick.
But try doing that in this day and age.............lol
Terrorists have human rights too........lol I know who I would bomb.

Self absorption.
The ego factor has befuddled the intellect.

The, "I want it now," which evolved gradually and "values" diminished in direct proportion and by degree.

That's what happens when we put too much faith in ourselves, and not enough faith in God.
