Probably because it challanges their perception of a liberal. I know many liberals, who are religious though most keep their religion to themselves.

The best speech I have heard on how religion relates to values was from a liberal, who most conservatives would be surprised was religious. The speech was given at the conservative Pepperdine College - where Ken Starr heads the law school.

This would be an excellent speech for a conservative to see. They likely will not support the speaker, but they would get a very serious view of why his interpretations of his religion are consistent with his political positions. It might though let people who disagree see past the stereotypes that keep the two sides from ever recognizing that there is a middle ground where there is much agreement.

Finding Common Ground: Senator John Kerry Describes the Unifying Potential of Faith in Public Life

Former Democratic Presidential nominee Senator John Kerry shared his personal faith and perspective on the role of faith in public life with a standing-room-only audience in Pepperdine University's Smothers Theatre on Monday, Sept. 18. Watch the speech online.

I think the key word is "Ultra." I hope you are clarifying "Ultra" because you understand most conservatives are not like this, just as I understand most liberals are not "ultra-liberal."

Jesus was not a liberal by today's standards. It's hard to transfer what Jesus taught in that day to present times, politically speaking.

Example; Because he saved the woman caught in the act of adultery, does that mean he would be against ALL death penalty cases?

And, if you noticed, while he saved her, he didn't back down on saying she was wrong. ("Go & sin no more.") I can imagine liberals screaming, "Who are you telling her what to do with her own body!"

He obviously wanted the poor to be taken care of, but does that mean he would have wanted the government to be in charge of it? And 50% of the rich man's income being confiscated to pay for it? That sounds more like Robin Hood than Jesus Christ!

He said you have to pay your taxes, but would he have voted for a politician who advocated fixing things by higher taxes?

He taught obedience to the government, but does that mean he wanted a big government?

I can't imagine Jesus being anything but disgusted by mid to late- term abortions, but the Bible is not specific on the subject. The issue of "when life begins" would have to be answered, first.

There might be two Christians who both want to take care of the poor. One (a conservative) wants to start a private charity - the other (a liberal) wants to start a government program. They may disagree with one another, but they should not act like one is more of a Christian than the other just because they have different ideas on WWJD.

I don't fear any of the liberal so called quotes. It's spelled S P I R I T U A L by the way.

Questions or answers get removed because of ignorant intolerant people that can't handle others opinions and it has nothing to do with Jesus. Are you sure YOU don't despise Jesus?

You with the big ca hone's take a Koran and quote the Prophet Mohammad in front of a mosque. You cannot quote about something you know nothing about. Here is a question right back at you, why are YOU concerned about what YOU think Jesus has said or is saying. If right wing Christians are so dumb and uniformed why do liberals obsess with what right wing Christians think? Is it OK to offend Christians? Why do liberals think it is OK to offend Christians, would you do the same to Buddhists, Shintoist, or pagans? I do not think you would. Stop thinking you are so smart and start caring about all people not just what you want people to think about you. Why don't you try to get to know a Christian family and find out what they are concerned with. You may be surprised by what you find.

I haven't seen any legitimate questions pulled from Answers for the reasons that you state. Perhaps you should look at your own biased question for the answer. When a person ask a question that is nothing but slander and slurs and was never intended to seek information it is then a violation and rightfully so. As should be "questions" that are actually in fact just rants of one sort or another.

I think both these liberals who quote Jesus and "ultra right wing conservative bible thumbers" need to STOP quoting Jesus. Neither group has met the guy. Frankly, if all you can learn from Jesus is how to hate someone because they believe somethings different and you spend your time bickering over what exactly He meant, then you're already not listening.

Religion is a personal experience. No one has any right to manipulate another's belief or belief system.

Where on a scale of 1 - laissez-faire liberal to 10 - orthodox-religious conservative should government be?

No, it's because you insist that Jesus is a liberal, and insult anyone who disagrees with you.
I haven't reported you though. I just don't think you're worth it.

While Jesus had love for everyone, he also told them to "go and sin no more." That doesn't sound like a liberal. It doesn't sound like a conservative either.
What part of JESUS WAS NOT POLITICAL is so hard to understand?
