The government of the USA provides the public opinion for us.The US put him in power, assured his supply of weapons, and even made sure that they were not implicated in having a hand in the decimation of combatants in the Iraq-Iran conflict, and the gassing of the Kurds. We in America still live under a 10 minute window where the west coast fault would be split in order to confuse ICBMs from USSR.Amazingly,If you notice California could look just like Japan{mirrored} with a lot of smoke and magnetic disturbance. All within a 10 minute window.WE HAVE no opinion of our own.

I think he should have be punished by spending life in prison. I am against the dealth penalty. Who are we to play God?? The thing is, Saddam got the easy way out. His suffering is over now. He could have lived a long time and had to suffer for the rest of his life behind bars. I think that would have been a better punishment.

MATTHEWSMOMMY- how did Saddam mess with our country?? You aren't talking about 9/11 are you? That was Osama Bin Laden. Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11. Watch the news every once in a while. No wonder some brainwashed people actually agree with this war in Iraq. They actually believe that Saddam had something to do with 9/11. Astonishing and sad how uninformed some people can be.

We are glad he is gone.....but we hate this bloody war that is killing our sons & daughters, and we want the president to pull us out of it!

But politicians rarely listen to the people who elected them----so that won't happen.
My son is there in Iraq.....all he wanted to do was earn college money with an easy military reserve career......but Bush has committed our sons & daughters to a cause we have no way to win, and Americans are sick of it!

He was an evil dictator and tyrant who got his just deserts. He was not tried under U.S. law, he was tried under Islamic law and dealt with in Islamic tradition. It is not for Americans (especially anti-death penalty quacks) to say what they should have done to him. They did realize that if he was kept alive in prison, his followers could have returned him to power by force. Therefore, he was tried, found guilty, and promptly executed. It was an event celebrated over most of Iraq and the Muslim world.

In general, I think people see it as a good thing. However, I don't think anyone believes it will improve the situation in Iraq. If anything, people are worried it will make the situation worse.

WMD or no WMD; whether he constituted a real threat to the US, I don't think anyone would argue the world isn't a better place without Saddam Hussein.

I think it was a horrible thing to do. The man was a horrible dictator, but nobody has the right to hang another. It is just plain barbaric. They didn't even wait for the appeal to go through.,. Jeez, those people are just plain barbaric, still living in the stone ages...

He deserved to die for his crimes, but not at this time. Bush captured him over false pretenses (i.e. WMD's) to get the public's mind off of Bin Laden. There weren't any WMD's and no connection between Saddam and Al-Qaida.
