I'm pretty sure your motherboard supporters Rambus DRAM or RDRAM which is different then SDRAM but your best bet is to go down to your computer store and ask them.... if i where you I'd go and get at least 1-2 gig of ram

Check how much your original amount of ram;
Starts => r/click on My computer => properties => check the amount of memory, and if its closest to 128, 256, 512, 1024MB
Whatever you have you should get again, so if you have close to 256MB you would get another 256MB DDR Ram, as that is what Gateway uses.

The E-6000 uses Rambus RDRAM modules, those aren't very popular, Crucial doesn't have them.
Newegg has a selection, any of these SHOULD work:

You can install any DDR2 533 MHz ram on your desktop. Dont forget
"MODULES MUST BE ORDERED AND INSTALLED IN PAIRS for Dual Channel mode."
and
"If 4GB is installed, the recognized memory may be reduced to 3.5GB or less (depending on system configuration and memory allocation)."
