Ok, my daughters cell phone is dying. Right now, Sprint will give me $75 dollars off a new phone(provided I sign a new 2 year contract), the cheapest being $100 with the discount. But, my contract is up in April and hers is in March. (she is on my plan) If am a new customer, starting a new contract and plan, I get 2 phones for free. Why can't I just wait and start over and get two free phones???? What am I missing here?

Many cellphones break or start to disfunction after the first year of your contract. The cellphone company makes you sign on to a two year contract, knowing that although your cellphone will start to stop working before that two year contract is up. The contract will hold you to your deal of two years, therefore you will have to pay the bill for the phone as if you were using it all 24 months.

Now, if your phone breaks permenantely, you have an ultimateum to make. Either you go on without a working cellphone, perhaps a buy another cellphone from them with a smaller cost than buying a whole another phone, and continue paying your contract OR you continue paying your contract and buy a brand new phone, with another contract so you will be paying two contracts.
Either way, the company pretty much screws you over.

number one you are dealing with Sprint. They are hard to deal with. (I could tell you a story or two with Sprint) If you have been with them for quite a while you may be able to deal with them by reminding them that you are a good customer in good standing. I do that with Cingular, and they give me what I want (depending, or will at least compromise) Sometimes you have to leave a company so they will persue you for your return business. You do usually have 30 days to bug out of a contract ask first just in case you are not satisfied. When your contract is about to expire they may deal with you better to keep you from moving to another carrier.

cell providers will charge you for the price of the phone if you do not finish your contract...so sign up just when your old contract expires to get a new set of phones and get tied up again for another what......2 years?
good luck
