I rather like the idea of people eating when they're drinking... a full stomach helps to keep them from getting blotto-ed quicker.

Cigarettes were rightfully banned in public places because of the harmful effects of second hand smoke on other patrons. The consumption of alcohol does not carry the same risk.

If you have an adversion to being around folks who are drinking in a public restaurant, might I suggest that you frequent different restaurants? It's not necessary to stop frequenting restaurants that serve alcohol, altogether...but you might find your dining experience more pleasant if you avoided those places that offer a full bar. A family diner more often than not, offers a simple line of beer and a few wines and is not some place where heavy drinkers tend to go simply to "get drunk."

Then of course, there's always Friendly's....

Just shut up. Honestly, people should have to right to do something that doesn't effect you directly if they want to. I understand that some people get loud when they drink and that can be annoying, but, its also loud when people moe thier lawn. Smoking is band because of the risk of 2nd hand smoke. Drinking does not have the same effect. And if your worried about people driving under the influnce take a look at my site and see what i'm trying to do to help with that problem. www.sobrietyalert.com I would be interested in getting your opinion of it.

because there's no such thing as second hand wine. Smoking harms others around it, alcohol does not. If you don't want to be around drinking, then go to restaurants that don't serve alcohol or have low levels of drinking, or just go early, when families tend to be there. There are healthy drinking behaviors that many people engage in, including a glass of wine or a beer with dinner.

Banning smoking from public places was actually ment to save your lungs from 2nd hand smoke and as far as I know you can't die from inhaling fumes from someone's wine glass. If you don't want to be around drinking while you are dining then you should dine where alcohol isn't served.

Why not just eliminate all the things that annoy us? Lets ban burping, stinky purfume, chewing like a cow, soup slurping, talking too loud, annoying laughs, people with body odor, talking with your mouth full, close talkers (I hate those) people who spit when they talk, etc....

People that do things that annoy us are a fact of life, it's what makes the world go round. Deal with it, get over it and lets all just get along OK.
