All you have to do is keep track of units; that is, units can be represented as variables, which means they potentially cancel each other out.

I'll show you what I mean.

[1000000 seconds] / [60 seconds/minute] = 50000/3 minutes

As you can see, the seconds cancel each other out, the same way that if you do
[10s] / [(60) (s/m)], multiplying top and bottom by m, you get
(10sm)/(60s), and then the s unit cancels, to get
(10m)/60 = (10/60) m

Our next step is to get the hours from the minutes. Note that there are 60 minutes per hour, so we use this fact (60 minutes/hour).

[(50000/3) minutes] / [60 minutes/hour] = (50000/180) hours

Simplifying that, we get (2500/9) hours.

Now, we go from hours to day, keeping in mind that there are 24 hours per day, or 24 hours/day.

[(2500/9) hours] / [24 hours/day] = 2500/216 days

Reducing that, it's 1250/108 days.

If we wanted mixed fractions, that would be

11 62/108 days

If we wanted to be even more precise, we can try and get the number of hours from the fraction portion, 62/108.

(62/108) days * (24 hours/day) = 1488/108 hours

This reduces to 124/9 hours, or 13 7/9 hours

Thus, our solution now to its exact value is

11 days 13 7/9 hours

Let's now get even more accurate, by dealing with 7/9 hours.

(7/9 hours) * (60 minutes/hour) = 420/9 minutes = 46 2/3 minutes

Our solution so far: 11 days 13 hours 46 2/3 minutes

Now we deal with the fraction part of 2/3.

2/3 minutes * 60 seconds/minute = 40 seconds.

Final answer: 11 days 13 hours 46 minutes 40 seconds.

1 min = 60 seconds
1 hour = 60 minutes
1 day = 24 hours

therefore there are 60 x 60 x 24 = 86400 seconds in one day

a million seconds would = 1,000,000 divided by 86400 to equal

11.57 days

Figure out how many seconds are in a day first. In one minute, there are 60 seconds. In one hour, there are 60 minutes. In one day, there are 24 hours. So,
In one hour there are 60 minutes with 60 seconds per minute, so there are 60 * 60 = 3600 seconds in one hour.
In one day, there are 24 hours with 3600 seconds in each hour. So there are 24 * 3600 = 86400 seconds in one day.
To find out how many days is a million seconds, divide one million by the number of seconds in one day, which is 86400.
1,000,000 / 86400 = 10,000 / 864 = 11.57407 days

11.5740740[740] days (brackets indicate a repeating decimal). Expressed as an irrdeucible fraction, this is 625/54 days (or 11 and 31/54 days, if you prefer mixed numbers).

Method: divide 1,000,000 seconds by 86,400 seconds/day (there are 24 hours/day, 60 minutes/hour, and 60 seconds/minute, so there are 24*60*60 or 86,400 seconds/day).

Here is what I come up with: you have 24 hours in a day, times 60 seconds in a minute, multiply 24 times 60=1440
So there is 1,440 minutes in a day. Take your 1,000,000, and divide it by 1440= 694.4 days. My answer is 694.4 days

we know that:
1hr=3600seconds for 10^6 seconds we got
xhres.then,
x=10^6/36*10^2 ; x=10^4/36 hrs
we got 24hrs for 1 day and for 10^4/36 hrs
we got (10^4/36)/24
or x =10^4/36*24
x=10^4/864 days
x=11.57407407days approx. 11 days
