I think some people confuse talking about their faith with proselytizing, or, trying to convert others. I don't mind people talking about their faith as long as we can both accept that there are many beleif systems and that trying to convert others can become problematic.

At a certain point, proselytizing can become a tool of oppression and too often, a stance that helps create societal division. Too many people, especially in the united States, feel that legislating their faith stance is appropriate, even at the cost of the civil rights of others and concepts of equality, justice, and economic survival.

That's the worst thing someone of faith should you. If you talk about you faith, that's one thing. If you keep pushing people to try and make them believe what you do, that's worse than hitting them over the head with a hammer. People should state their beliefs and then let it go. Pushing someone only makes them more stubborn and makes them think people who believe are crazy.

maybe further from the person, but not necessarily from faith; say someone was really into a football team, say Newcastle, and all they could talk about was Newcastle - newcastle this, newcastle that, it wouldn't be so much a reflection on the Newcastle boys, but on that fan. so maybe one dud person into faith and all that isn't so much a reflection on faith in general but just on himself?

Yes. It is very annoying. What's with those people who can't seem to a conversation without bringing God into it? Do they not realize we all worship in our way? Makes me sick of them and not want to even attemp to talk with them.

They can, because they sometimes leave the "preachee" no space for personal interpretation or sense of self-worth in said religion.
