Homeostasis is how the body maintains a constant internal enivronment. The body on its own would maintain an environment that suits it the best. As the external environment is changing all the time, the internal environment would also change. So, homeostasis is here to "right" the wrong environment.

The relationship is quite simple, when the external environment changes, the internal environment would change. If the environment is not good enough for human survival, homeostasis comes in and changes the internal environment to suit the organism.
