If Oprah's heart is in Africa and that is where she wants to put her money that's fine. But why she has to put down inner city kids is beyond me. I think there are plenty of selfish people all over the planet she just hasn't looked I guess.

True, I ve taught in inner city for 2 years, most are very selfish and very lazy, most not all. They do have crappy home lives. But I still do not think that is an excuse. I have many friends from bad homes, including myself, and we worked our way up and paid for our schooling working crap jobs. I am not a republican either.

There are a lot of inner city kids who are lazy. I think they could do a lot more if they beleived it would get them anywhere, but sadly, many kids don't see how much their laziness is holding them back.
They all want to get rich quick by doing illegal things and lounge around with all their riches.
I work with a lot of these kids and I hear it from them everyday. Maybe this is the attitude Oprah speaks of?

Do not listen to her today she has this opinion, tomorrow she will say something else. She does it for the tv ratings. She obviously forgot where she was born. And it is fashionable in Hollywood today to take care for the so called poor african kids who cant take care of themself. It is just the latest fashion will blow over before you know it nobody will even remember it.

Yes. Totally. Having been one, most wealthy kids are far too distracted to knuckle down and excell at a subject. When it is your only way of escaping abject poverty, school becomes alot more fun.
