what is art effect on tourism?

In a study done in Ontario Canada a few years ago, the statistics show that Art & Culture (including Visual Art, Dance, Music, Writing & Theatre as well as Historic and cultural events & venues) - brings in more tourism money than ALL the sports events & venues combined - contrary to beliefs held by local tourism officials.

Of course, I've been waving that particular flag here for years, and we still have more hockey rinks (at least 6) than public museums (0) or public galleries (0) in our region.
