I went out walking for about 20min in 47 degree weather. I did this with a 5 month old baby. But my baby was not wearing a hat, I held her hands to keep them warm. She was wearing a light shirt and a sweat shirt. Was I not keeping her warm enough. Should I make sure that she has a hat on when ever the temperature is below 60 degrees?

always keep hats on kids they can get ear aches from cold and wind.if their head is warm that will help keep them warm i personally would have put a blanket on child as well, and a coat ,mittens.babies get sick easily, respitory problems ,ear infections.babies breath through their noses if they get stuffy w/cold you got some real problems.good luck.

I put a hat on my son. I personnally think that with the hat, what you had(as long as there was leg covering and foot covering), and holding, a light blanket is good. If the baby is in a carrier/stroller, I like more because the seat gets colder than a warm body would be. My son sweats, cries, and wiggles terribly if he has too much on.

I am due soon with a baby, and I was planning on putting him in a body suit, then pajamas, and then swaddling him in a flannel blanket or two. This way the baby will be warm, but not hot, and you don't have the issues of loose blankets. If its a really cold night, make sure you use fleece or flannel pjs instead of the light weight cotton ones.

A hat is what holds heat in your body. You should definately have them clothed properly. Hat, jacket, little mittens, and blanket. Would rather have too much then not enough.

The baby's hands get cold because she is not moving them and has therefor there is little blood circulation to the hands. I would always dress your baby slightly warmer than you and always have mittens and a hat.

Yes she should have had a hat on. Babys lose a lot of heat through their head.

babies lose a lot of heat through their head, so it's best for your baby to wear a hat. Get her a sweater or light jacket next time.

When they are young like that it is always best to wear a hat. You use alot of your body temp through your head.

I've always been told that if you are comfortable with what you have on, then so will baby. I do feel that you should always protect your baby's head . Their little heads can burn so easily from the sun. Don't want to get ear infections either.
