I have. I'm serious. Not just not enjoying the joke, but turning the whole thing on it's head and becoming almost violently angry with me.

I thought I was going to get some warm laughter from my "friend", but instead got roasted with hell fire.

There was a question here on Yahoo Answers, " How do I make orange chicken?" I was going to post a tasty recipe but when I got to the site, a couple of other people had posted good answers. So, I jokingly answered, "You mix red chicken with yellow chicken." The asker reported me for abuse and I got deleted. I keep my eye out for her, now, as you should your friend. Something's psychologically wrong with people who lack a sense of humor. They may just be having a bad day. Watch such people closely, though, and cautiously back away from them. Most people who chronically get "violently angry" and misunderstand a joke can also be missing a few cogs in their cognition, or, thinking abilities. The really really stupid are scary.

Well I would have liked to hear the "joke" in order to help you with this. I have personally never made anyone that angry with a joke, but I've been present when others did. Once it was a hugely obvious racist slur, once it was extremely degrading toward women, once it was insulting someone's religion... I'm sure you get the drift. Jokes that insult, degrade, demean or ridicule any particular group will likely **** someone off. Before you tell a joke, you really should think about whether it is appropriate. If your freind got that angry, chances are pretty good that yours was not.

I have a rather harsh sense of humor... Happens all the time buddy.

If they can't take a joke the heck with um!

Life is too short to allow people to make you feel bad for pointing out the obvious.

Just stay out of personal family business.. Kids and spouses should be off limits.

This didn't happen to me, but it's something possible. People differ very much in what amuses them. For you it's a good joke, for him it might sound like irony.

Each of us has some weak spots and in this case I guess you've touched one.

Yes, I have. Remember that a sense of humor is totally subjective.
