It's sort of an unwritten rule that only the bride wears white on her wedding day, and people will be looking at you wondering why your wearing white which may spoil your day, and black might be slightly harsh, because its a wedding try and wear something a bit more wedding friendly, like a colour, but if your not into colours, earth tones are good too, cream, stone, mushroom, navy blue is a nice colour too, but black might just work if you wear the right accessories, so go with your instincts.

Definitely should not wear white...bride should be only one with white dress!! Have a heart no matter what your situation may be with your future sister-in-law!! Hopefully it will be a "forever" relationship for your brothers sake, why step on toes from the get go. Take the higher road...
In the 80'ies my wedding was actually black and white, and I wear black 24/7 so I would wear black! Black is glamor!!

You are not supposed to upstage the bride, its her day and she is the one that is supposed to shine and be the center of attention. So, yes, it is very rude to wear white to a wedding. Since you are the grooms sister, you probably should try to coordinate your dress with the bridesmaids and the bride and grooms moms. Do I sense a little jealously on your part of your brothers wife to be? Why do you feel that you need to upstage the bride? Get over yourself and go with the flow.

It's rude to upstage the bride. Personally, I wouldn't wear white at a wedding. If I wanted a light color, I'd go to a pastel, but avoid anything too pale.

I've heard that typically guests shouldn't wear white because the focus should be on the bride, but I think the type of dress makes a difference. If you're planning on wearing a long, ornate white dress, I would probably advise against it - but if you're thinking of a cute summer dress that doesn't look bridal at all, then you can get away with it.

Typically, it is said that only the bride should wear white. If you are standing up in front with the wedding party, then it might not be the best idea, but guests don't really have to follow the rules.

Well, you should never wear the same color as the bride!! That is bad manners!! Black is not a good color to wear either! A good color to wear would be either a hot pink, light pink, lime green, dark purple,or a light purple!!! Good luck!!! And have a great week!!!

The old white rule is out of style anymore, you can wear any color you like. But I would be tasteful and don't try to outshine the bride, even if this means choosing another color. This woman will be your sister-in-law now, you don't want to start things off with hard feelings.

No, I don't think it would be rude. You should be able to wear what you want to wear. Who cares if the bride is wearing white. I've to a few weddings and alot of people wear white. Wear what you want. If she gets mad, she'll get over it.

I have never heard of that before. If its what you wanna wear, wear it. As long as your not in the wedding party and standing up there with the bride and groom you wont be the center of attention. I've seen people wear white at weddings before.
