Well it depends on the gestation of the pregnancy. Earlier in pregnancy they tend to be more accurate.

My 1st ultrasound (at about 2 or 3 months) was extremely accurate. However, my next 3 were completely off because of the size of my baby. From 20 weeks through the birth of my son, they consistently showed me as being 2-4 weeks further along than I was. My son was 3 weeks early and weighed almost 9 lbs. So I would say the 1st is accurate, but once they start packing on the pounds, the reading could be wrong because the ultrasounds go by averages - weight, length, etc.

It depends on when you got it done. If they are saying you are about 17 weeks along, and you aren't sure exactly when you got pregnant, it is about 2 weeks in either direction. So you could be 15 weeks or you could be 19.
The earlier the ultrasound, the more accurate it will be.

ordinarily, ultrasound relationship of a being pregnant is greater precise than relationship employing the date of the mum's final menstrual era. The biometric crown-rump length (CRL) of the six to twelve-week fetus grants the main precise length - interior 3 days of actual gestational age. From 12 to 18 weeks gestation, different anatomic platforms are usually measured and biometric measurements are usually precise to interior each week of gestational age. After 26 weeks gestation, fetal variability has very much greater and the relationship provided with the aid of biometric length is way less precise, however the approach continues for use. with the aid of previous due interior the 0.33 trimester, measurements are precise basically interior a 2-to 3-week window. As you will see that an early ultrasound heavily isn't off with the aid of 3 weeks. You ovulated later thats all. All of my ultrasounds have been precise with an identical due date. I had one at 8 weeks then at 19 weeks

I would say ultrasound is very accurate! I was pregnant with twins - one had a due date of the 22nd of the month, and the other on the 29th (based on ultrasound prediction) - and they were born on the 29th.

They're very accurate during early pregnancy (before 20 weeks, I believe). But they get less accurate as the pregnancy goes on.

Our ultrasounds are usually plus or minus two days. I think that's about average across the board. Babies never arrive on their due date anyway.
