It is a grave mistake to identify yourself with the body. Give up body attachment and develop Atmic consciousness. Only then will you understand and experience your true form, i.e., Atma. Otherwise, even the smallest physical ailments will make you feel anxious. Physical ailments are like passing clouds. So long as you are deluded by body consciousness, you will be affected by them. Once you give up body attachment, you are no more bound by the body and its limitations. When you sit in meditation, you forget your body. Meditation means giving up Dehabhimaana (body attachment) and developing Atmic awareness. Understand that you are not the body. You are "I". Everyone while referring to one's self uses the term "I", the principle of Atma. Hence, you are not the body. It is only an instrument. "I" is your true identity.

LOL!!
Well a grave mistake is exactly as asked. Here is an example, you pressing a giant red button in the middle of an all white room. The bad part is that the words DO NOT PRESS hangs over the button. A mistake is something that you can fix. A grave mistake is something that can NEVER be fixed, like killing a person, or worst, pulling a pin from a grenade and throwing the pin.
LOL!!! Great Question!

a serious mistake. A VERY serious mistake. One which affects your life, not necessarily by causing death, but can cause broken friendship or family ties or an extreme loss (emotionally or financially or materially).

Grave doesn't always just mean a place to bury people.

Def: serious or solemn; sober: a grave person; grave thoughts.
2. weighty, momentous, or important: grave responsibilities.
3. threatening a seriously bad outcome or involving serious issues; critical: a grave situation; a grave illness.

A grave mistake is one which will be difficult or impossible to recover from. That can mean from a health perspective, but can also mean political, or social.

Nixon's cover-up on Watergate for example, was a grave political mistake.

Jerry Reuban (Pee-Wee Herman) doing what he did in that movie theater was a grave career mistake.

It is considering that you have done one and thinking worse of yourself because of having done it, in this way you degrade yourself because of your own thoughts about what you have done. I do not advocate with this that people should become irresponsible but that lowering your own self-esteem is the worst grave mistake you can make because your own success in life, how good you are and how much you can help improve the life around you depend on your own self-esteem. If this would be high in everyone there would be no criminality.

Firstly a mistake that is fatal for someone, obviously. Secondly one where you cannot live with the consequences. That only requires learning from them, and taking the next step. If they aren't fatal, mistakes are merely the way we learn. Remembering that makes decisions much easier, I found. Good luck.
