Hey Darin, where have YOU been? Oprah has sent approximately 20-25 men to Moorehouse. She built homes for 40 families who were displaced by Katrina. She is constantly giving freely of her time and money for American and other causes. As a Black Man, I am shocked that you would try to portray our sister Oprah so negatively. Why don't you ask George Bush how come HE can afford 100's of billions of dollars on WAR and not on US Americans! Pick your battles wisely Darin!

Before opening this school in Africa, Oprah has sent aleast 20 men to Moorhouse College and she also builded house in Houston, TX for the Katrina Victims. In addition, she donations her personal money to organizations in the US that help people in the Good Old USA.

Click on the link below: This explains why She gives less help to the US schools.

And what makes you think Oprah hasn't contributed to charities in the US? She has been a constant generous contributor to MANY charities...stateside and abroad...not just the most recently publicized ones in Africa.

Next time before you get on your high horse, learn a little about the person you seek to criticize.

Perhaps she sees a difference between youth who -decide- to join gangs, and Africans that cannot afford food or education? Poverty in the US usually involves support systems, such as welfare. There are other services, such as soup kitchens and free public schooling. While I agree, our system needs A LOT of work, it's hard to compare the situation in America to what millions of Africans face. You don't have a public school to attend. Sometimes you don't even have food or clean water. There's an AIDs epidemic because the government is deliberately denying and miseducating its people. It's hard to listen to people say "But what about Americans!" because that's why the world views our country as a selfish nation. You cannot compare our problems of choice, like gang violence, to a complete and utter lack of food and educational opportunities.

Did you ever think that these girls need a school to go to?

Did you know that she was thinking about building a school here in the US for some inner city kids, but when she asked what they need (as in educational things), they told her IPODS, $200 sneakers, computers, the latest game console, all very materialistic things that they don't need but want. She decided not to do it because the kids wouldn't even appreciate the chance of bettering themselves. These girls are just glad to be going to school.

Truth is....she's under no obligation to help anyone at all.

If she's generous and wants to help someone.....thats her privilege.

No one has a claim on Oprah's money but Oprah.

And no...I'm not a fan of hers....heck, I don't even like her.
