I live in New York and love it..
If you like the beach, try Long Island. On the island you can go to the beach.
On Long Island, there's also Adventure Land, an amusement park:
26 attractions, 15 kiddy rides, over 300 video and other games; restaurant, gift shops. New for 2001 water flume "Adventure Fall," Hip Hop and Free Whale
There are tons of golf courses, but I don't know if a 15 year old girl is into that kind of thing.. There's lot's of paintball.. Splish splash.. amazing restaurants! If you go to Long Island, you MUST go to Caffe Amici, a cheap Italian restaurant in Selden. It's amazing.
Hotels here: http://www.longislandtourism.com/viewcategory.asp?categoryid=30
If you are near the city, or want to be in the city, there are TONS of museums you can go to. Museums I would suggest are:
Guggenheim Museum
Museum of Modern Art
American Museum of Natural History
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Whitney Museum of American Art
Ellis Island Museum
New Museum of Contemporary Art
Jewish Museum
You should also GO SHOPPING in Manhattan!
Go to the Bronx Zoo, the Central Park Zoo, the New York Aquarium, Coney Island (beach and amusement park).. you could definitely go boating! Go to a show on BROADWAY! If you will be 16 by that time, go see Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Conan, Last Call with Carson Daily, etc.
Check this out for other teen activities in NYC:

Yes that is exciting and i hope you get some good answers from the people that live there. I would suggest you see Rockefellar Plaza and Times Square. Why don't you try and get tickets to Rachel Rays show(go to her website) she loves kids as does Rosie O'Donnell. They're always giving away free stuff. Whatever you do...have fun and take a camera with you.
