my child is in full time nursery at a local school and you have to reapply for reception they don't automatically get a placement do you this this is right or wrong

i think this is wrong because the child is already settled and its unfair for them to have to move schools if they don't get a place you already have to apply for nursery

If that is their policy, then that is their policy. Its right for them.

Right and wrong are relative. You think its wrong because you are afraid of uprooting your child. You want him to be happy where he is and not have to possibly go through the ordeal of making new friends. That's understandable.

Maybe you could find a nursery that he would be comfortable in that would take him yearly??

But who knows, maybe having to make new friends the next year would be good for him. That way, when he eventually leaves nursery school to go to grade school, he'll learn how to get along with others and make new friends easily.

I would say this is definitely wrong. However, I would question whether a school that so obviously doesn't have a CHILD'S best interest at heart, is the place where you want to send your little one anyway. I would probably find a better school - and re-place my child on my own terms; making sure I do thorough research ahead of time.

i believe this is right as children living in the area of the school should get priority to go to the school closest! and also children with sblings. i know it seems unfair but i have 3 children and imagine if i had 2 be in 3 different places at the same time!! crazy!!!!

Having worked in Child Care, I know this is an opportunity for businesses to legally and politely excuse any children who have proved themselves as undesirable residents. It is a protective measure on the part of the establishment in most cases.
