I heard of a guy who worked for the fire department set a fire in the alley under his girlfriend's apartment. He intended to keep it keep it under control with just a few boxes lying in the alley near by. He was going to "save" the girlfriend by "rushing" to the fire climbing up the outside stairway, "rescuing" her and putting out the fire. His intent was to impress her. The plan backfired and I don't mean that as a pun. The whole building with apartments, a store, a paint shop and other building caught on fire. No one was killed, but several fire departments were called out. The arson was found out, later pleaded guilty. Needless to say the whole town was impressed.
