I'm 20 weeks pregnant (I swear, if I had this many problems with my first child, I never would have been willing to jump into the ring again), and I feel wicked light-headed. It's not every day, but I seem to have an episode once every week or two. Has anyone else had this?

BTW, I think that I may be anemic, but I don't get my iron tested until the 15th.

Any time you get really frustrated with dog snobs, go search for any sort of "natural parenting" forum. You will be GLAD you're only into dogs. A while back on an errant Google search, I accidentally stumbled into some chat forum made up of parents (mostly women) who were trying to be as "organic" as humanly possible in regards to how they fed their kids, the clothes they wore, the medicines & vaccines they had, etc etc. They ranged from the fairly reasonable (looking for healthier, organic diet options) to the extreme (people who didn't vaccinate their kids, vegans who didn't believe in feeding a baby their own breastmilk, etc). But my GOD the superiority complex some of those people had going on!! Nothing even close to Y!A, not even close to some of the other dog chat forums I've been a part of. Seriously, go experience the other side sometime....you'll look at dog people in a new light. I only wish I had a link, but I am terrified I might find the site again if I look for it. :) Seriously? Stop giving a crap about what other people do or think. It's pure freedom, I tell ya. This is the Internet, and it's only inevitable some people will use it as their little outlet for martyrdom. Describing to the world what a superior dog owner they are is probably one of the few little pleasures they have in life. Don't let it bother you. You are giving your dogs a home where their needs are met and their tails are wagging. You shouldn't care about anything else. :)

If you've fainted twice today, and are having recurring episodes you might want to contact your physician and not some bozo on the net like myself. Better safe than sorry. Most hospitals have an "Ask a Nurse" line. Try calling and see if you should head in to the ER for an EKG, urine dip, and/or additional bloodwork.

Thankfully someone else already offered this advice, but I'll reiterate it.

DO NOT take supplements without first seeing a doctor. While it may be iron-deficiency anemia, you don't want to bet both yours and your baby's life on it. It may be a heart-condition or something equally serious. Get to an ER as soon as possible.

Good luck!

If you're having fainting spells, you need to get tested now!! In the meantime, go and pick up some iron supplements. Check out a health food store that can offer you an iron supplement that doesn't cause constipation.

Go ahead and start taking some CHELATED iron supplements. This kind of iron is best absorbed by your body and less likely to cause constipation.
