I think your son should give you or your husband a call and tell you that he is thinking about coming for a visit. That is just common courtesy. But he should be able to come home for a visit pretty much whenever he wants to. You don't say what your husband's issues with your son are, or if your step-son has a proper respect for your husband, either. That could be a large part of the problem. If your home was your husband's home before you married him, he is probably feeling like he has lost a great deal of his ownership in his home since your marriage to him. All the more reason to make your son understand the importance of calling you first. You may not want to discuss this issue with your husband, but you really don't have any choice if you want your marriage to survive. Get some counseling if you can't resolve this among yourselves.
