The MBE is an award given out by the Queen. MBE stands for Member of the British Empire, and is the lowest of the awards to be given by the Palace (order goes MBE, OBE, CBE, Knighthood).

The MBE is an award given out by the Queen. MBE stands for Member of the British Empire, and is the lowest of the awards to be given by the Palace (order goes MBE, OBE, CBE, Knighthood).
These awards were given to all the English team who won the Ashes in 2005, except for Michael Vaughan and Duncan Fletcher, who got OBEs.
Warne was sledging Collingwood about it as Collingwood only played in the last test match, scored 10 and 7, which was quite poor, yet still got an MBE.

England had achieved an astounding accomplishment, they scraped a series win against Australia. As a consequence the entire English team were awarded Honours, no matter how much or little they contributed to the anomaly ( a Pom Ashes Victory!). Collingwood only made 10 and 7 runs!

Apart from having MBE after his name and receiving a crappy medal it is not much to shout about really. It doesn't even get you a free pint down your local. It's probably more of an embarresment to him really considering his contribution to the series.

I understand that all the Pommy cricketers received that gong,
for being able to beat the best team in the world, after such a
long time, and to give England some thing to celebrate in sport.
