I assume they rely on their judgment and experience. We see things a lot closer at times and differently on TV with the aid of replays. But honestly some are so obvious, I don't see how they miss or ignore them.

They can't really tell! It just depends on who bought the ref before the game! How do you think all them unfair free kicks and penalty kicks are given?! It just depends on who gives the most cash so the ref will be in their favor. If it's a dive by a player on the team that bought the ref, it'll be counted as a foul! The rest aren't!

They can't tell at all unless they are very close to the incident. They watch a lot of video and study patterns. That is why they misjudge so often than not. They are also very much influenced by 'diving history', as in the case of C. Ronaldo. He had a great history of diving a couple of seasons ago but not not. However, they keep on ignoring the fouls he suffers.

personal judgment and also if a player is a known diver or has been diving in the game when he really is fouled and falls down there is a lower chance the foul will get called because the ref assumes he is diving again

u know cause when someone is hurt, they dont start running all over the feild as if nothin happened after the yellow card has been given.
