I think the penalty kick shootout is unfair and needs to be revised. I hear FIFA is considering this for 2010. Any suggestions?
Oh yea this isnt football related but congrats to the Aussies in the recent Ashes.

I liked the ELV’s! Sped the game up and didn’t give a team 3 points for minor/dubious/50-50 infringements. Yes, I would like to see rucking return, but it may not fit in with the IRB’s plan to have the sport on a world stage. I have been on the bottom of a many rucks in the rucking days and I assure you I didn’t want to be there, but sometimes it’s impossible to roll away. These days the players are professionals at playing to the rules to get 3 points and are even using the tactic of hindering a player from rolling away so they can milk a penalty. Don’t agree with “Mark L” 3rd paragraph “If they continue to suffer because of poor discipline, the players will pretty soon get the picture and start playing the rules….” He has missed one of the main points; ““Ambiguous”, like using hands immediately after the ruck has formed and/or if the player (arguably) might have had difficulty rolling away”. This causes the game to come to a halt and 3 point penalty taken. Harsh, and not good for the game, when it’s a 50/50 call anyway. Totally agree that the Boks have taken on the new rules well compared to the Wallabies & AB’s, but do we want a game that comprises kicking, kicking, penalty kicks, drop goals, and more kicking?

It does seem a heartless and unfair way to decide a match, especially a final, when both teams have played to a very high and even standard. I don't like it personally. Many things have been suggested, down to players being taken off every so many minutes. But in the end FIFA will do what they will do, we don't really have any control over it.

Very nice of you to offer congrats re the Ashes. Thanks!!

Sure it is unfair but how else are you going to get a result between two evenly matched teams that have outplayed themselves and sweating after overtime?

i think it's fair because the two teams have been playing for 120 minutes , so they have to finish the game by penalties because the two teams couldn't finish the game .

i think it is fair because if the teams are so evenly matched that neither of them can win after 120 minutes then they need to go to penatlies
