Just spit out any excess gel after placing the strips. The strips work for some, not so much for others. It just depends on the starting shade of your teeth.
Make sure you really crease in between each tooth when placing the strip, I've seen bleaching work where the strip contacts the tooth but the inbetween the teeth spaces were yellower where the strip wasn't in contact.

Yes because the gel it in your mouth that mixes with your saliva and if you swallow anything in your mouth while have the Crest white strips in your mouth it is the same as swallowing the gel itself

No. It just means don't scrape the gel off with your teeth and swallow it or dont swallow the actual strips. Stupid, I know but they have to put that stuff on there. Those actually work great! I used them before my prom a few years ago...my teeth were SO white in all of my pictures with my friends that their's looked pure yellow lol :)

Yeah, try not to swallow the spit, but don't fret, it won't kill you, otherwise they wouldn't sell it.
As far as the white strips working goes, I talked to my dentist about getting my teeth bleached and she thought I should. I decided to try crest white strips (30$ vs 400$) and the next time I went in, she asked me where I got my teeth bleached. She noticed the difference. It's been about 2 years since I did that and while my teeth are not as white as they were when I finished the treatment, they are still whiter than when I started it.

It's okay if you swallow some, just don't eat it basically. I have swallowed the gel many times though.

Try to spit the gel out after you remove the strips, you can swallow while they are attached to your teeth. Also, be careful how often you use them, they make your teeth over sensitive.

They mean just not to swallow excessive amounts. The same as you would if you accidently swallowed toothpaste. No more than necessary

a 99 cent bottle of hydrogen peroxide. dose the same thing, that is what the ingredient is, just brush your teeth with a whitening toothpaste, and then swish the peroxide in your mouth, I hold it in for about 30 seconds, thats all you have to do, and no they won't turn your teeth too white. I asked my dentist if he would whiten my teeth and he said no, just use the strips, but the peroxide is way cheaper. good luck

I think everyone already answered your question, but I have another suggestion for helping to maintain your white teeth. Listerine whitening mouthwash is awesome! Definitely DON'T swallow it though. :)
