if it is, does that mean that it can cause pollution??? how? O.O i need the answer so badd.. T~T

Greenhouse gases are those gaseous materials which heavily absorb infrared light (reflected from the surface of the earth). 1-butene does not. It is used to make synthetic motor oil. I suppose that means it could potentially cause pollution.

BTW, the worst greenhouse gas is water vapor.

I think butene is to heavy to become a greenhouse gas. I know if you open butane it sinks to the bottom , and I doubt two extra hydrogens would make that much difference. If it breaks down, then it is a concern though.

Butane is not a green house gas because it is very heavy like CO2. This is why some workman make the error that there is no Butane in the area. If he has the meter on his belt it will not read butane on the ground.
