how would metal detectors prevent staff from invading the students rights?

Maybe this is a strech, but I only see 1 other reason posted so... Students have the right to work in a non-discriminatory environment, and maybe seeing the teacher's pet set the alarm off a few times, and the student they had pegged as a 'bad seed' always check out just fine w/ the metal detector, more staff would second guess thier prejudgements.

They could detect guns and other metal weapons without having to do a body search .
