I don't know function notation!!!!!!

All conic sections have a function that represents them. If I were a little more clear on exactly what the functions were for each conic section were, I would elaborate on this. It just happens to elude me.
This will not be of much help but hopefully someone in line can better explain this to you.

All conic sections can be expressed with 2nd order 2 variable equations, the general form being:

a x^2 + b x y + c y^2 + d x + e y + f = 0

For any real set of values (a, b, c, d, e, f), this equation expresses a conic section.
